All are welcome as we usher in the month of October and celebrate World Communion Sunday on October 5. Pastor Lynn’s message is entitled “A Table Big Enough for the World” as we become the Body of Christ through the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper. Our scripture lessons are: Isaiah 25:6-9, Psalm 24:1, Psalm 116:12-13, 1 Corinthians 10:16-17 and the Gospel of John 6:43-51. Worship begins at 11:00. A light lunch of breads and cheeses from around the world and various foods will be served after worship. We’d love to meet you!
Welcome to Worship
First Presbyterian Church of Avonmore is a church of the Redstone Presbytery and of the Synod of the Trinity. We belong to the Presbyterian Church (USA). We are located at 518 Indiana Avenue in Avonmore, PA. 15618
Our Sunday worship services begin at 11:00. Our service follows the Order of Worship of the PC(USA). It consists of singing praises to God, liturgy, scripture readings, a sermon, an offering and prayers. Several times during the year, on special days, we celebrate The Sacrament of Lord’s Supper (Holy Communion). Our communion table is open to anyone who believes in Jesus Christ. We also celebrate the Sacrament of Baptism.
We observe the sacred days and seasons of the church. These times are The Baptism of the Lord Sunday, Epiphany, Transfiguration of the Lord Sunday, Lent, Easter, Pentecost, Christ the King Sunday, Advent and Christmas. We celebrate World Communion Sunday each October. We recognize and honor our veterans on Veterans Sunday. We observe All Saints’ Sunday by remembering our loved ones.
We extend hospitality by having a fellowship time before and/or after worship each month. This past year we have had covered dish lunches, a chili cook-off, a pancake breakfast, donut Sundays and an annual strawberry social.
